The 35th annual People’s Choice Awards are tonight, Wednesday January 7th, 2009. The live show will be held at the Shrine Auditorium in Hollywood, CA and hosted by Queen Latifah for the third year running. The thing that makes this award show different is that you, the people, decide the winners. If you haven’t noticed, some of the nominees including Dancing with the Stars and Deal or No Deal have been tooting their own horn, telling their viewers to go online and vote for them. I already made it a point to go to the official People’s Choice Awards website and vote for my favorites.
As for any award show, my favorite part of the night isn’t the actual show itself. Its of course, what everyone is wearing. I don’t care about who wins and I usually just tivo the awards since I can’t stand sitting through the commercials and some of the performances. If something really dramatic or exciting happens during the actual show, I can fast forward or even read about it online the next day and probably catch it on You Tube. What I make a point not to miss, however, is the live from the red carpet pre-shows. I love seeing what and who the stars are wearing, who their dates are, who arrives first, what they have to say in their interviews, etc. For the bigger award shows like the Golden Globes, Grammys and Oscars, I tune into the Live from the Red Carpet hosted by Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic.
Some of this year’s People’s Choice Nominees include, The Dark Knight, Angelina Jolie, Anne Hathaway, 90210, Tina Fey, Rihanna, Carrie Underwood and more. You can watch the awards show live tonight on CBS at 9/8c.
